A collection of tapes
Between 1988 and 2005, while travelling to gigs or working at them – if I found a cassette tape sprawled out and discarded on the side of the road – I'd use the tape as a stencil and create a middle-of-the-road artwork. The band or festival I was going to didn’t matter; the music on the tape didn’t matter. I just left a small, semi-permanent, stencilled artwork in the ‘middle of the road'. I did this 23 times – then ended the project.
These artworks are a creative reinterpretation of that idea, limited to 13 individual works, one unique print of each. Created in 2024
This is the original inspiration – but they have been signed with simplified titles (in bold) because, frankly, no-one but me would care about what band I was travelling to that inspired them :-)
